Stress is a reaction to pressure. There are different kinds of stress we experience. We all have experience stress; environmental (sun exposure, air pollution, smoking), physical (feeling strained), emotional (emotional distress), traumatic (reaction to a traumatic event), chronic (daily ongoing stress), and acute (happens sudden stress for a short period of time).
Stress influence on skin
When you are chronically stressed. A chemical reaction occurs when the body is stressed. When stressed, the brain gives signals all through the body to turn on inflammation and receptors that releases a hormone called cortisol. Stress causes our bodies to work harder which causes the skin to be reactive, sensitive and harder for the body to heal skin issues. When the hormone cortisol is released into the body, cortisol sends a message to the glands in the skin to produce more oil. When an increased oil production in your skin happens it’s causes the hair follicles get clogged with oil and dead skin cells then it causes a pimple and skin redness.
When the body is stressed is can interrupt with the balance of good bacteria and bad bacteria in the digestive system. This disruption of good bacteria and bad bacteria can affect you skin, promoting acne and redness to the skin.
Stress accelerates aging and that makes you look older. The hormone cortisol breaks down the collagen and elastin in the skin. Inflammation causes a production of certain hormones, those hormones interfere with cell recreation and free radical damage causing premature wrinkles, spots, and sagging skin. Daily we are exposed to stress. We can keep our stress under control by living a healthy balanced lifestyle. Set some time aside for you.
